Sophus Bugge – Sæmundar Edda hins fróða

I have decided to start sharing public domain documents that I find are sometimes represented on the internet without providing the original source. So at times I will find reference to electronic resources in drafts of papers written by colleagues that do not provide reference to the actual work. Sometimes these documents have been digitized by Google but are lost in a sea of other similar documents and internet meta-trash when searched for. At times I require a direct link that a colleague can easily download from. This is meant to facilitate that need.

In the future I will be providing copies of public domain documents (AKA – out of copyright) that are published on archives such as the Internet Archive but are multiple volumes where some volumes are not easily found in sequence. Multiple copies of one volume might easily be found while not a single copy appears of another. I have searched for, organized, and often tailored the files anew in order to more easily facilitate research with these documents. I hope to utilize the time I have put into this to help others.

Without further ado, I present Sophus Bugge‘s early modern (1867) edition of Eddic poetry (Eddukvæði) which he was eager to attribute to Sæmundur hinn fróði, an attribution thought mere speculation in current Old Norse academic circles. This copy has been digitized by Google, and is provided as is from a download I procured at some point in the past. I uploaded it here for a colleague and have been updating this page with links to copies ever since.
